Ex-Manchester United manager David Moyes decided to recover from his difficult stint in England and take charge at La Liga side Real Sociedad with lower expectations.

But while he’s escaped the big club spotlight, he still must game plan against these dynamic outfits, such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the intent of furthering the Royals standing in the league table.

This weekend, La Real  journey to Camp Nou and face Barca, who are riding a seven-game winning streak and just defeated Bayern Munich, 3-0, in a crucial first leg of a Champions League semifinal.

Unsurprisingly, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi spearheaded the Catalans efforts by scoring a brace and doing so in magnificent fashion. It’s clear to Moyes that the 27-year-old holds exceptional soccer prowess that few players across the world can consistently challenge. He also outlined what he considers a “realistic” winning attitude for his squad heading into the match.

“No-one can defend against Messi,” the former Manchester United boss said. “He may have the odd off day, but he’s one of the best players of all time. Teams try and stop him but he carries on, makes no fuss.

“I admire Messi for what he represents, his fantastic football and the fact that he doesn’t dive or fake injury – things that repulse me in the world of football.

“But we will travel to Barcelona with that intention [of winning again] but we are also realistic enough to know that Barcelona are one of the best teams in the world.”

All the praise on the planet can be heaped on Messi for his nearly unparalleled quality. After Cristiano Ronaldo established himself as the premier footballer by winning the Ballon d’Or, Messi answered the bell and enjoyed wonderful second-half form. As La Liga comes to a close and the Champions League final nears, we’ll eventually figure out who gets the last laugh.
