Raheem Sterling brought uncertainty to the Liverpool awards dinner, and Steven Gerrard was the man on many fans’ minds, but Philippe Coutinho cleaned up the awards before getting plaudits from his captain.

Sterling was given the team’s Young Player of the Year, and earned some boos while accepting it. That’s because he’s reportedly ready to leave Anfield.

But, in a year marked with injuries and failure to replicate last season’s success — manager Brendan Rodgers called it a “trying season” — Coutinho has been Liverpool’s spark plug.

The crafty Brazilian midfielder has consistently thrived for the Reds, and won their Goal of the Year, Performance of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards.

And as Gerrard scooped up his Lifetime Achievement Award, he chose to highlight Coutinho, too.
