Louis van Gaal will have to continue his search for a center-back as Mats Hummels has reportedly turned down a move to Manchester United.

The Borussia Dortmund defender was one of United’s top targets this summer, but now a Dortmund executive has said Hummels will stay in Germany next season.
Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc told multiple German news outlets that Hummels rejected a move to Old Trafford and will hopefully see out his contract at Dortmund, which expires in the summer of 2017.
Zorc told German magazine Kicker that the club has future plans for Hummels, who has made over 200 appearances for the club since joining from Bayern Munich in 2009.
A major overhaul of the squad was also ruled out by Zorc, as many thought big changes could be coming with the departure of manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. Skilled midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has already stated his intentions to leave over the summer, while many penned Hummels to follow his fellow German international out of Dortmund.
BVB currently sits seventh on the Bundesliga table with one match to play. After finishing second in the league last season and making the Champions League final the year before, the 2014-15 campaign has been extremely disappointing by the club’s standards.
