The game in 100 words (or less): Two teams looking to turn around poor runs of form met at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, with the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas grinding out a 1-1 draw. The first 45 was a bore and the second half wasn’t much better, as the match looked destined for a scoreless draw. However, Fabian Castillo found the back of the net for FC Dallas, as Colorado keeper Clint Irwin failed to parry the shot wide. It looked like the visitors were going to squeak out a win, but Dillon Serna scored late in the match to steal a point for the Rapids.

Three moments that mattered
18′ — Kennedy stops Serna on good chance — One of the few opportunities on goal was squandered by Dillon Serna, who had a chance to put the Rapids ahead in the 18th minute. On the end of a good series of passes from Colorado, Serna got in on goal but fired right at Dan Kennedy.
71′ — Castillo finds a goal for Dallas — Despite failing to create pretty much any chances in the match, FC Dallas took the lead when Fabian Castillo found the back of the net with a strong right-footed strike. Castillo got some power behind it, but keeper Clint Irwin really should have done better to make a save.
88′ — Serna atones for early miss, fires Colorado level — With time winding down, Dillon Serna found a late equalizer for the Rapids. Matt Hedges jumped to head a cross clear but couldn’t get up high enough, as Serna hit a sweet left-footed shot into the back of the net.
Man of the match: Fabian Castillo — The Colombian scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season, and was the only real attacking threat for FC Dallas throughout the match. With blazing speed, Castillo is a handful for the opposition.
