Defending champions Uruguay finds themselves in desperate need of a win in order to confirm a place in the knockout stages as they take on Paraguay in their final Group B match.

They will be without defender and captain Diego Godin, suspended through yellow card accumulation with one in each of the first two matches. Liverpool defender and Sunderland loanee Sebastian Coates is starting in his place.

Uruguay defeated Jamaica but fell to Argentina to leave them with three points heading into the final match. Meanwhile, Paraguay pulled out a surprising draw with Argentina in the opening round to leave them in a great position, having already confirmed a place in the knockout stage.

“They are a strong rival and we expect a difficult game,” Uruguay goalkeeper Muslera said to Uruguay newspaper Ovacion Digital. “But we need to go out to win because it’s the only chance we have left.” Alongside Edinson Cavani up front in the starting lineup is Hull City forward Abel Hernandez, his first start of the Copa America. This matchup is a rematch of last year’s final where Uruguay won 3-0.
