While a star athlete vacationing in New York City isn’t anything special, Pirlo has added fuel to the fire as rumors continue to swirl that he will sign for NYCFC in the coming weeks.

The Juventus captain watched the Yankees defeat the Tigers, and was seen speaking to Ferran Soriano, who serves as an executive officer for both NYCFC and Manchester City.

Pirlo posted this picture to his Twitter account, which translates to “Rest, Vacation and Sport!”

The New York Post is reporting that a deal between the MLS club and Pirlo is imminent, with Goal.com saying it could come as early as Friday.

Pirlo would join Frank Lampard and David Villa as the club’s third designated player, as Villa led NYCFC to a 2-0 win over Toronto FC yesterday, bagging both goals for his side.

Lampard is expected to make his MLS debut when NYCFC takes on Kaka and Orlando City in late July.
