The Sergio Ramos saga is gathering steam in the Spanish capital.

Ramos, 29, has apparently told Real Madrid that he wants to leave this summer as reports continue to link him with a move to the Premier League and Manchester United.

Spanish news outlet AS is claiming that Ramos and his agent, his brother Rene, arrived at Real’s training ground on Wednesday to try and sort out his situation. That news comes on the same day that a reported offer is on the table for Ramos from United, with the Red Devils offering David de Gea and $45 million for Ramos.

How has this situation unraveled rather quickly?

Well, Ramos was reportedly annoyed that Real failed to distance him from supporting a presidential candidate at bitter rivals Barcelona, and in turn Real are not happy that rumors regarding Ramos’ future and a possible move to Manchester United have surfaced in the coming days. Add all of that with winds of change sweeping through Real with Carlo Ancelotti fired and new manager Rafael Benitez coming in, and Ramos may now feel it is time for a new challenge outside of Madrid.

The Spanish international defender has been with Los Blancos for 10 years after arriving Sevilla as a teenager and is regarded as one of the most complete defenders in world soccer with a World Cup, two European Championships, three La Liga titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy under his belt.

However, with United seemingly ready to splash the cash this summer and in desperate need of adding a commanding center back to their ranks at Old Trafford, the stars seem to be aligning for a potential big-money switch for Ramos this summer.

The only issue here is that Ramos has a $300 million release clause in his current contract with Real which runs until 2017. However, the Spanish defender apparently intends to renegotiate that clause to try and push through a move this summer.
