Nani is set for a move to Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Super Lig in 2015, for a fee of close to $7 million. The Portuguese winger spent last season on loan at Sporting Club from Manchester United, as he was not in Louis van Gaal’s plans at Old Trafford.
He made more than 200 appearances for the Red Devils, winning four Premier League titles as well as a Champions League title in 2008.
Nani was in good form for Sporting on loan, scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances for his boyhood club. He is also Portugal’s sixth-most capped player of all-time, with 86 appearances for his country. At Fenerbahce, he will join fellow Portuguese internationals Bruno Alves and Raul Meireles.
Defending Super Lig champions Galatasaray will also add to their attack, with Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski scheduled for a medical in Istanbul this weekend.
Podolski was loaned out to Inter Milan during the January transfer window, a spell which he admitted was a failure. The German international scored just one goal in 18 appearances with Inter, and was told by Arsene Wenger that he would not be a starting player if he returned to the Emirates.
