Steven Gerrard knows a thing or two about forming and maintaining a special relationship with the supporters of his football club.

After all, the Liverpool legend spent 17 years at his boyhood club and left this season as one of the Premier League club’s most revered and respected players of all time.
So, it comes as no surprise, really, that despite the fact he’s yet to even be formally presented as an LA Galaxy player — let alone played a game for his new club — Gerrard is already earning bonus points with his new supporters in Southern California.
Ahead of the Galaxy’s league game against Toronto FC on Saturday, a special gift was delivered to the LA Riot Squad, one of the Galaxy’s most vocal and visible supporters groups.

This is just all kinds of awesome from Gerrard. Along with the above selection of (delicious) California beers, is the handwritten note, which reads as follows:
LA RIOT SQUAD —
Even though I’ve yet to wear an LA Galaxy jersey, I am excited for the opportunity to play in front of LARS and earn your respect.
Supporters are the lifeblood of any club, and I know that with your support we’ll challenge for MLS Cup again.
As a token of my appreciation for what you do for the club, I wanted to provide you with some refreshments for the 4th of July.
I look forward to meeting you at tonight’s match.
