Report: Manchester United’s Van Persie after forward agrees to four-year deal with Fenerbahce

In a quickly-developing story, Fenerbahce’s hopes to bring Robin van Persie to Turkey seem to be increasing by the moment.

Sky Sports is reporting that the 31-year-old forward has agreed to join the UEFA Champions League side on a 4-year-deal.

Earlier today, the rumor was that Fenerbahce was willing to spend $17 million to bring RVP over from Manchester United.

Our own Joe Prince-Wright pointed out that the move would give United a serious hole in striker depth.

From Sky Sports:

The Turkish club now hope to officially announce the transfer before the weekend, but there are still some details that need to be finalised and agreed with Van Persie himself.

Fenerbahce director Guiliano Terraneo travelled to London recently to discuss a potential deal with United chiefs for the 31-year-old Netherlands striker, who has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, although United have yet to comment on the situation.

A move to Fenerbahce would reunited Van Persie with Nani on a talented team which also features Moussa Sow, Raul Meireles, Bruno Alves and Simon Kjaer.

Injuries have stopped Van Persie from reaching his prolific Arsenal goal totals in three seasons at Old Trafford, but his goals-per-match average is actually up over his time at the Emirates.
