Earlier reports penned Delph for a move to Manchester City, as the Villa skipper didn’t travel with the team to Portugal for preseason training.

Just earlier this morning, Sky Sports reported that a medical was set for this weekend ahead of the anticipated move to the Etihad.
But now, the 25-year-old midfielder has claimed he will stay at Villa Park, where he has spent the past six seasons.
Below is a statement released by Delph on Aston Villa’s club website:
I’m aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.
I’m not leaving. I’m staying at the football club and I can’t wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club.”
Keeping Delph is massive for Tim Sherwood and Aston Villa, as he was one of Villa’s best performers last season. Now the club will have to focus on keeping top talisman Christian Benteke, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, amongst other teams.
