Following their narrow victories over Honduras and Haiti in their opening Group A game in the 2015 Gold Cup, Jurgen Klinsmann’s U.S. national team have already secured their spot in the last eight. Los Canaleros have struggled so far, drawing both of their opening group games after conceding late equalizers and likely need a win against the U.S. to seal a spot in the knockout stages.

The USMNT haven’t exactly set the world alight in their opening group games but they got the job done and Klinsmann will likely rotate his squad against Panama at Sporting Park on Monday.

One of the key areas to focus on for the U.S. will be at center back as youngsters John Brooks and Ventura Alvarado started the first game in a 2-1 win over Honduras but the more experienced duo of Tim Ream and Omar Gonzalez started in the 1-0 win over Haiti.

Clint Dempsey has scored all three of the USA’s goals so far this tournament — hammering home why he is still the USMNT’s go-to man, even though he’s been stripped of the captaincy — but Deuce may be rested along with the likes of Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley.

PST’s very own Andy Edwards will be covering the USMNT from his hometown in KC, so make sure to follow him on Twitter and check back to ProSoccerTalk for live updates, a recap, reaction and more analysis from another big night for the U.S. national team.
