Louis van Gaal’s rebuild of Manchester United has been going on for 12 months now, but there seems no end in sight as the second-year Dutch manager is reportedly ready to sell defender Jonny Evans to Everton for a fee believed to be $12.5 million.

Evans, who appeared in just 14 league games for Man United last season, has been at the club for nine years but feel severely out of favor with Van Gaal during his first season in charge of the club.
For United, Evans’ departure would seem to signal another defensive signing — or, perhaps more — to come during the summer transfer window. Matteo Darmian was signed last week to strengthen the full back position, but no central defenders have been signed to this point.
For Everton, Evans should be a starter from day one and tasked with fixing a leaky defense that conceded 50 goals last season. During the summer, stalwart center back Sylvain Distin left the club on a free transfer and signed with newly promoted side Bournemouth.
If Evans does indeed leave Old Trafford, he’ll join a growing who’s who list of former United stars to be sold or leave on free transfers this offseason, which includes Robin van Persie, Nani, and Tom Cleverley
