Rumors that Manchester United had been rebuffed by Bayern Munich on an $89 million bid for German striker Thomas Muller are untrue, acccording to the Manchester Evening News.
The Mancunian publication is not mincing words about the Sport1 report that Louis van Gaal was after Muller as the final piece of the puzzle. New to the club this season are LVG lures Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay.

And with Van Gaal admitting he could sign a “surprise striker“, this Muller thing could’ve been a thing, right? Wrong, apparently.
Manchester United are NOT about to make their second raid on Bayern Munich for Thomas Muller.
Reports that the Reds have made a £69.6m bid and a five-year contract offer to the striker have been confirmed as untrue.
…Certainly there has been no bid for the 25-year-old World Cup winner.
LVG was also linked with Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski, and there’s no club more involved in the silly season gossip mill than United. Still, if you saw the Muller headlines and thought, “Maybe”, your hopes have been dashed by the Manchester Evening News.
At least for now.
