Raheem Sterling scored less than three minutes into his debut for City, slotting home after a great ball from Kelechi Iheanacho to put City 1-0 up in the prestigious preseason friendly at the MCG.

However Roma were level soon after in spectacular fashion as Miralem Pjanic hammered home an unstoppable effort from distance. What a beauty.

City then went 2-1 up after half time with Iheanacho heading home, but Roma equalized late in the match with a wonderful free kick from Adem Ljajic beating Joe Hart.

That meant the game finished 2-2 and penalty kicks were needed to decide a winner. City’s Aleksandar Kolarov blasted his effort over to give Roma the advantage, but Hart first stepped up to score this stunning spot kick to keep City in it.

And the England international then saved two spot kicks in a row from Doumbia and Keita, as youngster James Horsfield scored his spot kick in-between to hand City the win and give them three points in ICC play.
