According to various reports, including in the Daily Mirror, Manchester City are said to be willing to pay $94 million for Belgian winger Kevin de Bruyne. That would be a record transfer fee in the Premier League.

The Wolfsburg winger has been a long-term target for City, and the 24-year-old is said to be keen on returning to the Premier League after a short and unsuccessful spell with Chelsea. De Bruyne recorded 20 assists in the Bundesliga last season, that’s more helpers than any other player in any of Europe’s top five leagues.

How can City afford him, I hear you cry? Well, after the $75 million signing of Raheem Sterling they are certainly splashing the cash again after FFP restrictions were lifted this summer, however Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed Edin Dzeko’s future at City is uncertain and Stevan Jovetic has been linked with a move away. That will free up some cash to splash. If City line up with De Bruyne and Sterling on the wing and Sergio Aguero up top next season then they could overtake Chelsea as favorites to win the Premier League.

The Daily Mail say Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is close to sealing a season-long loan move to AS Roma. Szczesny, 25, is likely to be Arsenal’s third-choice goalkeeper for the 2015-16 season behind new signing Petr Cech and Colombian international David Ospina. Roma had been interested in signing Szczesny permanently, but a loan deal seems likely for the Polish international who has spent nine years with the Gunners.

Liverpool have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain left back Lucas Digne as Brendan Rodgers’ transfer spree continues. Digne, 22, is a French international but has found chances hard to come by for PSG over the past 12 months. The Daily Mail claims Liverpool could look for an initial loan deal as the Frenchman would provide competition at left back. Alberto Moreno had a tough first season in the PL and despite new teenage signing Joe Gomez impressing out of position at left back during preseason, he may be just short of being ready for a first season in the top flight.
