Cristiano Ronaldo pulled out all his tricks and flicks as he scored Real’s second goal, while Pepe and Karim Benzema were also on the scoresheet as the Spanish giants raced into a 3-0 lead.
Yaya Toure scored a penalty kick right on half time to keep things interesting and City started the second half brightly with David Silva going close after some intricate play around the box from Samir Nasri, while Raheem Sterling looked a little lost up front on his own. Late on substitute Denis Cheryshev tapped home to make it 4-1 and that’s how it finished. Another negative note from this game for City was Fabian Delph going off injured with a suspected pulled hamstring.
Ronaldo was substituted 25 minutes from time after a rash challenge from Fernando caught him in the family jewels. Ouch. The Portuguese superstar appeared to be fine as he walked gingerly to the locker room with an ice pack and received a warm ovation from the Australian supporters.
Next up for Real are two games in China as they face Inter Milan and AC Milan. As for City, they now travel to Vietnam to play the national team before heading back to Europe ahead of the new Premier League season.
Below is Ronaldo’s goal, as seeing him dazzle in a friendly is worth the admission fee alone.
