The supporters at SportsDirect.com Park were buzzing to see Oldham Athletic take on Blackburn Rovers yesterday, but they had to wait a bit for some action as a swarm of bees delayed the start of the match.
One of the goalposts became covered with bees as a local beekeeper had to be called to come clear the danger as fans were held outside the stadium before the start of the match.

Blackburn Rovers spent 11 straight seasons in the Premier League before being relegated in 2012, and finished 8th in the Championship last season. They won the match against Oldham 2-0.
As seen below, both sides took to Twitter to dish out some witty updates on the situation.
After the match a spokesman for Oldham said “We are very grateful to the local bee society who arranged for a beekeeper to come along and clear the bees.”
