Report: Manchester United, PSG agree to $70 million fee for Angel di Maria

After weeks of waiting, it finally looks like Angel di Maria is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Press Association in the UK is reporting that Manchester United and PSG have agreed to a $70 million transfer fee for the Argentine winger, and the move could be completed by tomorrow.

Di Maria came to Manchester United from Real Madrid just a season ago for around $90 million, which was the fifth-highest transfer fee in history. Now it looks like United will have to deal with $20 million in losses after Di Maria failed to adjust to the Barclays Premier League.

The report states Di Maria is set to meet with Paris Saint-Germain officials in Doha, Qatar for a medical today before the move is officially announced. PSG is owned by a Qatari investment group.

This move has been dragged out for some time now, as Di Maria was rumored for a switch to PSG but Louis van Gaal said he still expected the winger to join Manchester United for it’s preseason tour in America.

Then, Di Maria never showed up. Van Gaal admitted he had no idea where his $90 million investment was, which signaled he had played his last match in a Red Devils uniform.

Should this move finally go through, Van Gaal won’t dwell on it for long. He’ll have $70 million more to spend, with United kicking off their 2015-16 Premier League season next Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur. Barcelona winger Pedro has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and the release clause in his contract is only $34 million.
