Sunday’s Transfer Rumor Roundup: Liverpool wants Cheryshev, Pato to Sunderland

In an attempt to replace Raheem Sterling, Liverpool wants to bring Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev to Anfield.

According to The Telegraph, the Reds are willing to offer $23 million to land the Russian winger, who spent last season on loan at Villarreal. Cheryshev joined Real Madrid as a 12-year-old, but has yet to play in a league match at the Bernabeu. He played with Real in their preseason tour in Asia this month, but is looked at as excess on their loaded roster.

With Connor Wickham on his way to Crystal Palace, Dick Advocaat is looking to find another striker at the Stadium of Light. The Mirror is reporting that Sunderland is eyeing a move for Brazilian Alexandre Pato as a possible replacement.

Pato burst onto the scene in 2007 for AC Milan as a teenager, and was one of the most promising prospects in the world at the time. However, injuries pushed him out of the Italian side as he returned to Brazil to play for Corinthians in 2013. He has spent the past two seasons on loan at Brazilian side Sao Paulo, and still just 25-years-old, could bring some much-needed offense to the Black Cats.

While Tottenham is in need of strikers, the club may be selling one as Roberto Soldado could be on his way to Villarreal, according to the Daily Mail. Soldado came to White Hart Lane for $40 million in 2013, but his time in north London has been a complete flop, scoring just seven goals in 52 league appearances. Spurs are supposedly holding out for a transfer fee of around $19 million, which shows just how far Soldado’s value has dropped over the past two seasons.

West Ham has entered the running for Paris Saint-Germain striker Jean-Cristophe Bahebeck, according to French news outlet Le10 Sport. Hammers’ co-chairman David Gold has said he wants to bring two new signings to Upton Park, and now is in need of a striker after Enner Valencia went down with a “significant injury” in their Europa League match. The 22-year-old played in just 15 Ligue 1 matches for PSG last season, and has attracted interest from a few Premier League clubs this summer.
