Watch Live: Newcastle vs. Southampton (Lineups and Live Stream)

Newcastle will feature a completely new look to start this Barclays Premier League campaign as the host Southampton at St. James Park live online at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Live Extra.

New manager Steve McClaren will take charge of his first meaningful match with the Magpies, as will their three promising summer signings Georginio Wijnaldum, Alexsandar Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba. Wijnaldum especially had a fantastic preseason scoring goals and assisting others.

Wijnaldum and Mbemba start, while Mitrovic begins his Newcastle career on the bench behind striker Papiss Cisse. (Mbemba showed up to St. James Park in a tuxedo for his debut).

Southampton also has a new look, albeit a familiar and less permanent one. Manager Ronald Koeman is recovering from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, so assistant manager and Ronald’s brother Erwin Koeman will take charge of the match. The Saints, for the second season straight, have lost key players from the previous campaign in Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne, but they have new faces to replace them.

Saints brought in Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord over the summer, and Maarten Stekelenburg – on loan from Fulham – is in goal as Frasier Forster continues to recover from a torn ACL. Jay Rodriguez returns to the side after struggling with knee problems the entirety of last season, and will bring a bright preseason showing into the new campaign.
