The motive for the attack is not known, but Fenerbache’s team bus was shot at in April while travelling from the airport in the city of Trabzon. The Turkish league was suspended for a week after that shooting incident which saw the bus driver hospitalized after he was hit in the face.
Security will now be tighter than ever around Fenerbache’s first team squad, as the likes of Robin van Persie, Nani and Raul Meireles call the club home with Istanbul rivals Galatsaray also having a glut of star names headlined by Wesley Sneijder and Lukas Podolski.
The following Tweet was sent out by FIFA Pro, the union for soccer players across the world, showing the damage done to Topal’s car.
