Just a few weeks after Mexico fired Gold Cup winning head coach Miguel Herrera for allegedly punching a journalist he had spat with at Philadelphia Airport, now Costa Rica’s head coach Paulo Wanchope has been filmed punching a security guard.
Wanchope, 39, became the head coach of Los Ticos last summer after their fairytale run to the quarterfinals of the World Cup. However, the former Manchester City, Derby County and West Ham striker saw his side knocked out at the quarterfinal stage of the Gold Cup this summer and they have struggled to regain the form they showed in Brazil in 2014.

As you can see from the video below, Wanchope was watching Costa Rica’s U-23 side play in a 2016 Olympic qualifier against Panama in Panama City on Tuesday. As he tried to get down onto the pitch at the end of the match, a security guard tried to stop him and pushed him.
Then, Wanchope exploded into life and threw a punch at the man in question as a scuffle broke out. Police separated the duo but the second-highest goalscorer in the history of Costa Rica’s national team will certainly have a lot of questions to answer.
