After Carneiro and Chelsea’s medical team were openly critized by Mourinho following the game, it is now believed that a message she posted on Facebook, which thanked people for supporting her, was hugely detrimental and seen as s sign of disrespect by Mourinho.
“I would like to thank the general public for their overwhelming support. Really very much appreciated,” Carneiro wrote.

The incident at the center of this storm regard Carneiro running onto the pitch with head physiotherapist Jon Fearn to treat Eden Hazard in the dying stages of Chelsea’s game with Swansea. Already down to 10-men, treating Hazard who was not seriously injured meant that Chelsea would momentarily be down to nine-men after already having goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois sent off.
Despite his medical staff being waved onto the pitch by referee Michael Oliver, Mourinho was incensed on the sidelines and was scathing in his post-match comments as he claimed his staff didn’t understand the game.
Reports from multiple outlets in the UK claim that the Portuguese boss has been far from impressed with his medical team for sometime and the decision to scale down Carneiro’s role with the first-team is something he’s been thinking about for a while.
Carneiro and Fearn will no longer be on the bench on matchdays or at the team hotel, plus Carneiro will not attend training sessions at their Cobham base but still have her office at Chelsea’s training facility. Whether or not she will accept the restructuring of her role remains to be seen, but public criticism from Mourinho will no doubt put strain on their relationship.
Below is the message from Carneiro that irked Mourinho, as she thanked well wishers after being criticized by Chelsea’s boss.
