Barcelona boss Luis Enrique not worried about four-goal deficit in Super Cup

Barcelona heads into the final leg of the Spanish Super Cup in a big hole after losing 4-0 to Athletic Bilbao in the first match.

For any other team, a four-goal deficit would seem insurmountable, but Barcelona isn’t just any other team.

Luis Enrique’s side has looked far from the team that won the European treble last season, but when your lineup includes Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta, scoring four goals isn’t as hard as it seems.

Heading into the second leg in need of a 4-0 win just to force extra-time, Enrique was calm about the situation, saying “Barcelona is capable of anything.”

Speaking to Sky Sports:

We know it is a challenge, but I think we have a team who can do this.

If we do things well we have every possibility. If we get things right, I am sure we can turn things around.

If you look at the statistics, last year there were 18 matches where we scored four or more goals.

Sometimes the other team scored, but it shows that we are capable of doing that. Everyone knows Barcelona is capable of anything.”

Barca showed they can score at will when they put up five against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup just a week ago. The only problem was, they also conceded four goals that match. Messi and Co. will have to score early and often against Athletic, but if they can’t keep a clean sheet, the Spanish Super Cup will be going to Bilbao.
