Morning news: Jelavic medical for West Ham, ball in Borini’s court after Liverpool accepts bid

It looks like we’re headed for a bonkers Transfer Deadline Day on Tuesday, and a trio of Premier League teams might be doing some under-the-radar business on Monday.

Fabio Borini’s been wanted back by Sunderland for a long, long time, and now Dick Advocaat just might see the Italian join after Liverpool accepted a $15 million bid for the striker.

It’s the first bid accepted by the Reds after $9-11 million bid came in from Inter Milan and Watford (and the BBC says Fiorentina is still in the mix). Borini turned down a full-time bid to Sunderland a few years ago. What will he do now? Only the player knows, but surely he wants to get on with his career if the Black Cats are his only option accepted by Brendan Rodgers.

And West Ham has seen a $4.5 million bid accepted, and will add Premier League striker depth in the form of Hull City’s Nikica Jelavic (a countryman of Hammers’ boss Slaven Bilic). Pending a medical, the Croatian forward Jelavic has also spent two seasons at Everton.

Jelavic will join a Hammers unit that features Mauro Zarate and Diafra Sakho, and will see the return of Enner Valencia later this Fall. He scored eight goals for the Tigers last season, and last cracked double digits in 2012-13 with Everton. Simply a depth move for Bilic in adding the 30-year-old, right?
