Following a summer of headlines for all the wrong reasons, Tim Sherwood said on Thursday he’ll be giving Jack Grealish, who the same day celebrated his 20th birthday, no more warnings over irresponsible behavior similar to that exhibited in the summer.

Grealish, who was photographed lying face down in the street on vacation in Tenerife, Spain, and has also been accused of getting high on “hippy crack,” was hailed an “exceptional talent by Sherwood, who made it clear he holds the Irish and English dual-national to the highest standards with a bright future.
Sherwood, on his handling of Grealish, from the Daily Star:
“Surely I haven’t got to warn him anymore. There are plenty more birthdays out there for him to celebrate after he’s finished. All I try to influence him on what he does when he’s here and playing. He is doing very well. I haven’t seen any repeat of those events so I can’t complain.
“Unfortunately he picked up an ankle injury the day before the Sunderland game. We’re hoping he might be able to get himself fit for this weekend, and certainly the derbies coming up.”
“I like to play down young talent. So you need to dampen expectations. But Jack is exceptional.”
Grealish, who is now faced with the immediate task of choosing which nation he will represent at the international level — to which Sherwood says he has no inside info: “It is up to those three parties to fight it out – leave me out of it” — is expected to return to the Villans’ gameday squad for Sunday’s trip to Leicester City (Watch live, 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra).
