Saido Berahino could play for West Brom this weekend

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has stated that Saido Berahino could start against Southampton on Saturday (Watch live, 10 a.m. ET online via Live Extra).

Berahino has been left out of the squad for the Baggies’ past two matches while he awaited a transfer away from the club, but now that the transfer never happened, the striker will be available for selection.

Despite claiming he would never play for the club under chairman Jeremy Peace, Pulis said he “would have no problem at all” starting Berahino against Saints.

The respect he should have shown the club and the supporters wasn’t there but you can’t question someone for having ambition. I wish I had ten other players in my dressing room with that quality and that ambition to better themselves.

The way he went about it wasn’t the right way, he has to show the football club and the supporters more respect.

I’m more interested now in getting him back to playing football. I would have no problem starting him against Southampton, none at all.

There may be a rift between Berahino and the club right now, but his presence in the lineup gives the Baggies the best chance of winning. If he wants to get the supporters back on his side, the best thing he can do is get on the pitch and do what he does best, score goals.
