Felipe Martins, take a bow.
The New York Red Bulls became the first team to clinch its place in the 2015 Major League Soccer postseason on Sunday as Jesse Marsch’s side beat the Portland Timbers 2-0 at Providence Park.
Martins, 24, has now scored three goals and added five assists in his first season at Red Bull Arena following three seasons at the Montreal Impact. His play in midfield for RBNY has won plenty of plaudits and his goal in Oregon may well turn out to be one of the goals of the 2015 MLS season.
Take a look at the video above to see the diminutive Brazilian midfielder spank his effort in from all of 40-yards just before half time to stun the Timbers Army into silence and set the Red Bulls on their way to a big road win.

With the victory, Marsch’s side sit top of the Eastern Conference standings with 48 points from 28 games and have played two games less than each of the three teams directly below them. With six games to go they are also level on points with the Western Conference leaders, the Vancouver Whitecaps, as New York aims to seal its second MLS Supporters’ Shield in three seasons.
