In the first half of Orlando City SC’s match against the New York Red Bulls, Cyle Larin made history.
The 20-year-old striker got his head on a corner kick from Kaka in the 24th minute, scoring his 12th goal of the season.
That header gave Larin the record for most goals scored by a rookie in MLS history. The previous mark was set in 2003 by Damani Ralph of the Chicago Fire, who tallied 11 times on the year.
Larin, the first overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, has certainly lived up to his potential, and is one of the key reasons why Orlando City is still alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
He would go on to score his second of the match and 13th of the season before halftime, giving Orlando a 2-1 lead going into the break.
