The Merseyside Derby needs no introduction.
Everton takes on Liverpool at Goodison Park with both teams eyeing the top portion of the table, live on NBCSN at 8:30 a.m. ET or live online at NBC Sports Live Extra.
The Toffees, who finished a disappointing 11th last season, have been one of the most impressive teams in the early going this year, and can jump into the top four with a home win today.
They’re heavily banged up at the back, however, still missing both John Stones and Seamus Coleman along the defensive line. Young central defender Stones missed last week’s win over West Brom with a knee problem, while the experienced Coleman misses his fourth straight match with a hamstring issue. Both were considered a game-time decision. Argentinian Ramiro Funes Mori replaces Stones in the middle, while 21-year-old Tyias Browning makes his third start out wide along the back line.
Meanwhile, despite all the pressure on Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool would move to sixth with a victory today, even with the surprising and impressive West Ham on points.
They’ve got a few important players out as well, with Christian Benteke missing for the fourth match in a row with a hamstring injury. His replacement, Danny Ings, is in fine form scoring goals and proving a complete forward. Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson and Dejan Lovren are all injured as well and continue to miss out.
