Europa League: Klopp’s Anfield debut, Spurs head to Belgium

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur continue their UEFA Europa League adventure on Thursday, as Jurgen Klopp gets ready for his Anfield debut and Mauricio Pochettino takes his team to Belgium.

Klopp’s side welcome Russian outfit Rubin Kazan to Anfield as the Reds need a win in the German coaches second game in charge as they have drawn both of their Group B games — away to Bordeaux and at home to Sion — so far. Klopp is expected to make some changes ahead of the big Premier League clash against Southampton on Sunday (Watch live, 12:15 p.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra) as he confirmed that a number of his players — including Christian Benteke, Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino — are nearing a return from injury and trained this week.

As for Spurs, Pochettino’s side have four points from their two opening Group J games but face their toughest test yet as they travel to face RSC Anderlecht in Brussels. The Belgian powerhouses are usually competing in the UEFA Champions League but missed out on qualification this year and will be a tough outfit to play at home. Luckily, plenty of Spurs players will feel at home with Belgium internationals Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghan and Toby Alderweireld all set to play, while another, Nacer Chadli, is out injured after suffering ligament damage in his ankle against Tottenham on Saturday.

Some other big ties to look out for elsewhere around Europe includes Celtic heading to Norwegian side Molde, as Old Gunnar Solksjaer begins his second spell in charge of the club who are surprisingly top of Group A. Another big clash takes place in Group A as Fenerbache and Ajax clash in Istanbul, while an intriguing clash takes place in Rome as Lazio host Rosenborg in Group G.
