The game in 100 words (or less): Seattle scored early and often, as the Sounders jumped out to a three-goal lead within the opening 20 minutes of the match, going on to beat Real Salt Lake by a score of 3-1. Clint Dempsey scored twice and Marco Pappa added another, as the Sounders finish the season in fourth place in the Western Conference. With a healthy Obafemi Martins and Dempsey combo, the experienced Seattle side will be a tough test in the playoffs. Real Salt Lake finishes their disappointing season in ninth place in the West, ten points out of the playoff race.

Three moments that mattered

5′ — Dempsey opens the scoring early — The combination of Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey continues to terrorize defenses, as the two linked up to give Seattle the lead. Martins played in a low cross, where Dempsey was in front of the goal to deflect it in.

10′ — Pappa makes it 2-0 Seattle — Marco Pappa scored just minutes after Dempsey’s opener with a great shot from outside the box. Pappa took one on his left foot and bent it to the far post, as Seattle jumped all over RSL early.

20′ — Dempsey scores his second as Sounders roll — Again it was Martins and Dempsey, as Martins led Seattle in on the attack. His first shot was saved, but Dempsey followed up the rebound as it was 3-0 Sounders before the half-hour mark.
