Watford recorded back-to-back victories in the Premier League as the Hornets downed West Ham United 2-0 at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
Odion Ighalo scored either side of half time to hand the Hammers their first away defeat of the season as Quique Sanchez Flores’ side moved up to the top half of the table.
The Hornets now have 16 points from their opening 11 games as they sit in ninth, while Slaven Bilic’s West Ham remain on 20 points and slip to fifth.

Watford started brightly as the Hammers struggled to get going with Igahlo having an acrobatic shot saved. The Hornets continued to press and five minutes before the break the opener arrived. Ben Watson‘s free kick was clipped into the box as Nathan Ake dispossessed Andy Carroll and his cross then found Ighalo who bundled the ball home under pressure from Aaron Cresswell. 1-0.

In the second half Watford started brightly and Ighalo grabbed his and Watford’s second goal as the Nigerian forward netted in the 48th minute to give the Hammers a mountain to climb.

West Ham pushed to get back into the game and 20 minutes from time they came inches away from pulling a goal back.
To compound a miserable day for West Ham, James Collins was sent off for a late challenge on Ighalo in the 84th minute and was issued a straight red card after an awful challenge on Watford’s two-goal hero.
