After leading Real to UEFA Champions League glory in 2014, Ronaldo, 30, has often been linked with a transfer to former club Manchester United or French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
In an interview with German magazine Kicker, when asked about a future move away from Spain, Ronaldo has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could finish his career outside of the confides of the Santiago Bernabeu.
“At the moment I play for Real Madrid, but you never know,” Ronaldo said. “Why not? At the moment I play for Real Madrid but you never know. You have to do what makes you happy. What will happen tomorrow, nobody knows.”
Manchester United fans, don’t run out and get Ronaldo printed on the back of your jersey, or fish out one of your old one’s with, just yet.
Ronaldo has previously stated that he “wants to retire at Real” while there have also been numerous rumors about Portugal’s captain heading to Major League Soccer to play in Miami or New York City. After spending seven seasons at Real after his move from United, it does feel like Ronaldo is entering a crossroads in his career as he probably has one more big move left in him, if he so chooses.
