Reports: David Moyes likely to be fired by Real Sociedad

With Real Sociedad only outside the La Liga relegation zone on goal differential, reports from England say manager David Moyes will likely be sacked, with an announcement to come later this evening.

The final straw for the front office seems to be an embarrassing 2-0 loss to newly-promoted Las Palmas this weekend that leaves La Real with just two wins in 11. This weekend’s poor result is their fourth loss in five.

There are reports that Moyes has fallen out with some of the more senior menbers of the squad because of his training methods, but former Arsenal player Carlos Vela denied those reports last week, saying, “He hasn’t lost the dressing room or anything like that, and we’re all trying move the club upwards, and we can only do that if we’re together. There’s no anxiety in the squad, but we’re conscious that we’re not in the zone where we want to be, we’re focusing on how to get out of this run and on working hard, that’s all we talk about in the team.”

According to the BBC, the club’s board has held talks this weekend, and has also met with players to get a view into the squad. They will use all that information to make a decision on Moyes.

“Coaches of all teams would be worried about this position but I am not worried,” Moyes said in his post-match press conference. “‘I am here to finish the season and do my work. We need to look at the long-term. I am confident in the players, they know that I support them but they need to show their quality.”
