Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal was at a loss after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with West Ham at Old Trafford.
His Red Devils had just one shot on target on 21 shots at goal, the fourth-highest total in a match with one on target in Premier League history (Get all that? It’s a hard stat to qualify, yet telling).

His critics can’t blame the effort, but they can scratch their heads at the lack of finish. LVG sure is.
“The most important thing is you dominate, create and you finish. Football is scoring goals. The first two basic aspects of football we have done. When you don’t finish from a meter in front of an empty goal you can say nothing anymore.”
Anthony Martial created and missed several glorious chances, while Jesse Lingard also failed to convert a solid opportunity. Marouane Fellaini was the lone Red Devil to put a shot on frame.
The Red Devils just didn’t finish, and West Ham can feel fortunate to have their point (though they missed some good chances themselves).
