West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Bournemouth: Cherries outlast scrappy Baggies

  • Charlie Daniels‘ late winner gave Bournemouth its third-straight Premier League win, and West Brom finished with 9-men in a 2-1 loss at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

    James McClean was sent to the stands for a late tackle, and Salomon Rondon was shown red in stoppage time as Bournemouth pulled to within a point of the 13th place Baggies.

    Junior Stanislas continued to be a driving force behind Bournemouth’s attack, and played in Glenn Murray in the eight minute for a chance that resulted in a Cherries’ corner.

    A late tackle by James McClean on Smith sent the West Brom man to the dressing room. The straight red may’ve been aided by Smith, and also McClean’s reputation, but West Brom would face close to an hour with 10 men.

    Smith was the hero come Half No. 2, cutting inside with his left foot to slot past Boaz Myhill and give the Cherries a 1-0 advantage.

    Yet it would be far from a runaway, as McAuley rose above the Cherries to head a Craig Gardner cross home for the equalizer.
