On a day when Chelsea is said to be looking to bring Didier Drogba back as an assistant coach, there’s another Blues veteran in the news.

The Los Angeles Galaxy could be looking to an out-of-work English international to help shore up its back line. With Omar Gonzalez gone for Liga MX with Pachuca, the Galaxy are said to be pursuing longtime Chelsea and recently-released Roma back Ashley Cole. The Sun says Cole is also on the radar of new Aston Villa boss Remi Garde.

Alex Teixeira’s long-expected move to Chelsea took another step, according to Metro, with the Shakhtar man reportedly making a verbal agreement to leave Ukraine for England.

Did Bournemouth win the race to scoop up out-of-favor Roma striker Juan Manuel Iturbe? Gazetta World says a $2 million loan offer gives the Cherries an edge over Watford, adding that a $24 million permanent option after the season is in play.

Bild is reporting that Schalke’s Joel Matip will leave Germany not a moment-too-soon for Liverpool. The Reds need help at the back with Martin Skrtel joining Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren on the sidelines.
