Leicester City tasted defeat for the first time since September, and it isn’t going down smooth.
Manager Claudio Ranieri lamented his side’s performance in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, questioning what took so long for the first-place Foxes to get moving.
Now Ranieri and his charges could fall out of first place if Arsenal beats Southampton later Boxing Day. The manager admitted that Jamie Vardy was sick and Riyad Mahrez was tired, and his side didn’t have much else to work with.
From the BBC:
“We started to play too late. Liverpool pushed from the beginning and for this season they deserved to win.
“Now we have to clean our mind and get ready for the next match [against Manchester City]. Another big rock.”
After spending much of December atop the table and winning game after game, Leicester City has lost and is staring down a visit from red-hot Manchester City. How will the Foxes cope with their first loss since a Sept. 26 setback against Arsenal?
