Valencia 2-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid failed to capitalize on Barcelona’s dropped points on Saturday, as Rafa Benitez‘s side settled for 2-2 draw at Valencia. Karim Benzema capped off a bit of brilliant team play to give Real the lead in the first half, but Valencia would draw level through a Dani Parejo penalty kick at the brink of halftime. Real was then sent to ten men after Mateo Kovacic was shown a straight red card for a harsh tackle with 20 minutes to play. Despite being down a man, Gareth Bale would grab the lead in the 82nd minute, looping a header into the far corner off of a free kick. However, Valencia stormed down the field and scored on a header of their own, as Paco Alcacer equalized just a minute later. With the draw, Real remains in third place, two points behind Barcelona.

Deportivo 1-2 Villarreal

Villarreal maintained their place in the top-four thanks to a brace from Bruno, including a penalty kick in the 95th minute that sealed the win. Deportivo controlled a majority of possession and created more chances on goal, but a foul by Fernando Navarro deep into stoppage time allowed Bruno to step up to the spot and slot home his second of the game, giving Villarreal all three points.

Granada 2-1 Sevilla

Sevilla had a chance to climb the table but were stunned away at Granada, who move out of the relegation zone with just their fourth win of the season. Granada took a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Adalberto Penaranda and Success Isaac, although Sevilla would pull one back just before the break. However, Adil Rami was sent off in the second half as a ten-man Sevilla had their unbeaten run snapped at eight.
