Stoke City and Liverpool lock horns at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semifinals.
Stoke have won six of their last 10 games in all competitions and have already recorded victories against Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United at home this season. They also battered Liverpool 6-1 at the end of last season but did lose at home to Liverpool 1-0 in the opening PL game this season.

Heading into this game Liverpool aren’t in the best of form. They lost 2-0 at West Ham United at the weekend and have only won two of their last seven games in all competitions.
Klopp’s masterplan isn’t clicking into place just yet but he will certainly fancy his chances of guiding Liverpool to a major cup final and grabbing a positive result away from home in the first leg is crucial if he’s going to do that.
Without the injured Daniel Sturridge, again, Liverpool will rely on Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino for goals, while Stoke City’s U.S. international Geoff Cameron had his red card during their defeat at West Brom last weekend rescinded so he is likely to feature in midfield.
Stoke haven’t made the semifinals of the League Cup since the only time they won the competition back in 1972., while Liverpool have won this trophy on eight occasions and the winner of this two-legged tie — the second leg will be play at Anfield on Jan. 26 — will face the winner of Everton vs. Manchester City in the final.
