If Jurgen Klinsmann was advertising for USMNT January camp applicants, perhaps he’d use this quote he proffered for Wednesday’s announced call-ups:
“For players that badly, badly want to knock at the door of the senior international team.”
Tony Tchani, Luis Robles and Ethan Finlay fit the bill for the U.S. head coach, as a bunch of new and young faces will don the red, white and blue between Jan. 11 and Feb. 6.
“You want these players to really come in and make a point. Take that chance, take that opportunity and try to come back into that group by the end of March when we play World Cup qualifying.”
Klinsmann called Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore and Jermaine Jones the “obvious” leaders of the group, and said he wants the U-23 players to get a head start in preparation for a critical Olympic playoff match against Colombia.
