The promising attacker called his move to Everton “a dream” but has returned to Grasshopper Zurich on loan until the end of the season so he can complete his national service.
Swiss-Albanian, Tarashaj has scored eight times in 18 appearances for Zurich this season and is regarded as one of Switzerland’s brightest prospects with five goals in eight appearances for the U-21 national team.
Speaking about his signing, Everton boss Roberto Martinez was delighted to get Tarashaj on board.
“Shani is an enormous young talent in Swiss football who, without a doubt, will have a great future.,” Martinez said. “We’re delighted to have found a young player who believes that our Club is the perfect step for him to enhance his quality and to grow his career. He fits in really well to our style and the way we want to play the game. He is a family boy, hungry and he is desperate to fight for his place in our talented young squad.”
Martinez also confirmed that Tarashaj will join the first team squad next season and his arrival will add extra competition for minutes in the attacking positions at Everton.
