The Blues today begin a stretch of four matches in 14 days, so Guus Hiddink could rotate the squad to keep some players rested. A draw today would also give them a fifth match in that span, something the club surely would like to avoid.
Meanwhile, 2nd vs 4th in the Premier League table meet in Cup action as Spurs host Leicester. These two teams drew 1-1 back in August with Riyad Mahrez and Dele Alli scoring a minute apart down the stretch, and oddly enough they will meet again just three days from now in Premier League play. Like Chelsea, both these teams have heavy schedules in the coming two weeks, so they would like to avoid a draw.
Leicester will be missing its main man as Jamie Vardy went under the knife to repair a lingering groin issue. He could return for the second Spurs game, but will definitely be out today.
