Will Lionel Messi ever play in the Premier League? It’s a question we’ve all undoubtedly wondered at some point or another during the Barcelona icon’s unbelievable career (he’s still only 28 years old, believe it or not).

Alas, it would appear we have been given the answer to that question, straight from the man himself. His intentions as of right now, at the very least.
Speaking shortly after winning the fifth Ballon d’Or of his career on Monday, Messi combatted rumors that he could one day trade in the blaugrana of Barcelona for the mega-uber-super-duper riches a player of his quality would command the Premier League — quotes from ESPN FC:
“I’ve always said that I don’t want to leave Barcelona. It’s always the same response. My idea is I want to finish my career at home, and my home is Barca.
…
“Football has many twists. A year ago, we were all getting criticised and we ended up winning nearly everything.
“My intention is to end my career where I started it in Barcelona.”
A few of Messi’s career triumphs thus far, while at Barcelona: seven La Liga titles; four UEFA Champions League titles; three Copas del Rey; five Ballon d’Or trophies; nine (consecutive) FIFPro World XI selections; top goalscorer in club history (all competitions, as well as every individual competition); top goalscorer in La Liga history; and many, many more.
Remember: he’s still only 28. At this point it would feel incredibly wrong to see Messi play in the shirt of any other club.
