According to multiple reports across England, Arsenal will officially sign Leicester City’s head of technical scouting Ben Wrigglesworth, a move that’s been in the works since mid-December. Wrigglesworth has helped form the stunning squad Leicester sports this year, most notably for his part in the discovery and signing of Riyad Mahrez who came from French club Le Havre in January of 2014.
Wrigglesworth is currently on gardening leave with Leicester ahead of his switch. He will team up with current Arsenal head scout Steve Rowley as part of the major changes expected in north London.
Arsenal is looking to completely redo their recruitment staff, and the Gunners are looking to the Foxes as a launchpad for new scouting success. Wrigglesworth becomes the second Leicester staff member to depart for London, with Rob Mackenzie joining Tottenham as head of player identification last February.
It’s being reported by many English outlets that Leicester’s head of recruitment Steve Walsh is also wanted by Arsenal, but that he has a hefty release clause in his contract of close to $1.5 million which is severely deterring the Gunners.
Leicester City sits atop the Premier League table, a point above Arsenal, but the Gunners still have yet to play this weekend.
