Wayne Rooney is back.
The Manchester United striker, now with four goals in his last three Premier League games, scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Liverpool with a spectacular volley, and he knows how big that result might be for the Red Devils.
Having brought them just a point off the top four, Rooney explained how “massive” the result is.
“I think everyone knows the importance of this game. Regardless of position, it’s a massive game for both football clubs and for the fans, and it’s a great victory. We got the three points we needed to continue the start to this year, and it’s a massive victory for us.”
Rooney was informed that he now owns the Premier League record for most goals at one club, but he didn’t care much for that, instead relishing the moment he had on the field Sunday.

“I scored the winning goal at Anfield, it’s been a long time since that’s happened for me – [the last time was] my first year at United – so I’ll be a bit selfish today and enjoy that one more than most.”
