Liverpool is continuing their push to sign Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donetsk.

It was reported earlier this week that the Reds had offered $36 million to sign the Brazilian attacker, but that bid was rejected as Shakhtar wants a figure closer to $50 million.

Despite the clubs being a bit off in their monetary value of the player, it is reported that Liverpool will is still try to bring Teixeira to Anfield.

With 22 goals in 15 league games for Shakhtar this season, Teixeira has spoken openly about his desire to leave Ukraine in January, keen for a move to the Premier League.

Teixeira added some fuel to the fire this weekend when he liked an Instagram picture posted by Philippe Coutinho, which showed Liverpool players celebrating after their win over Norwich. Coutinho and Teixeira grew up together in Brazil playing for the Vasco da Gama youth team.

If Teixeira were to move to Liverpool, he could create an all-Brazilian attacking trio with Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, which would surely help the Reds’ goalscoring issues.

The 26-year-old is hoping a move to the Premier League would help his chances of earning a call-up to the Brazil national side, as he has yet to feature for the senior team despite his prolific form at Shakhtar.
