Newcastle United have agreed to pay Tottenham Hotspur $17 million for winger Andros Townsend.
It is believed Townsend, 24, will travel to Tyneside to thrash out the details of his new contract and he Tweeted the following picture below as he drove out of Tottenham’s Enfield training base for the final time.

Townsend joined Spurs as an eight-year-old but spent nine spells out on loan before becoming a regular at White Hart Lane. However, since Mauricio Pochettino arrived he’s fallen out of favor and he was dropped from the squad after having a disagreement back in November with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner.
After excelling during a loan spell with Queens Park Rangers and also playing a pivotal role late on in England’s qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup, Townsend’s career blossomed during the 2013-14 season at Spurs but since Pochettino arrived he has been on the inside looking out and started just three games this season.
If relegation-haunted Newcastle can get this deal over the line then they will be keep their status as the highest-spending Premier League club so far in January with Steve McClaren already adding two other midfielders in Jonjo Shelvey for $18 million and Henri Saivet from Bordeaux for $7.5 million.
The Magpies need to score more goals and Townsend will add pace and trickery out wide, while he will also get a chance to play regularly in the Premier League.
